Doctors' consultations and treatment is free of charge. ![]() There's no charge for a dentist's consultation but you'll have to pay for materials used in treating you. Eighty per cent of dentists ersonal privately. If you see a doctor or dentist privately, there's no refund of any charges you incur. Prescriptions can be arranged through a doctor using Form E111. Some medicines are provided free of charge - for others the patient pays a co-payment (contribution) of between 10%-50% of the cost. This isn't refundable. If you're prescribed a medicine which isn't available under the state scheme, you'll have to pay for it yourself. Hospital Treatment & Ambulance CostsIn an emergency you can get treatment in the Emergency section of a hospital. You can also be referred to a hospital for inpatient or out-patient treatment if you consult a doctor and s/he refers you. There are no charges for in-patient or outpatient hospital treatment. If you're treated privately in a hospital, you'll have to pay. This isn't refundable. There's no charge for ambulance transportation. Where to Get RefundsPatients are generally only charged their share of the costs, which are non-refundable. If you don't have your Form E111 with you at the time you see a doctor and are charged, keep all your receipts and apply to the nearest Territorial Patient Fund for a refund.
