You can ski and snowboard absolutely anywhere and you don't need a guide - only confirmation from the local authorities that it is safe to ski and board in your chosen area.
In all other countries, including Canada and USA, skiing or snowboarding off-piste alone is covered anywhere within the resort boundary, and anywhere else with a locally qualified guide.
