Tradesman Insurance General Providers

Coverquote

We enjoyed our visit to the Coverquote website of Clacton-on-Sea-based Holland Insurance Brokers Ltd. What you see is what you get as they unusually detail the premiums up front for each trade.

Average or typical price examples:

  • For a carpet fitter, for example, Public Liability cover cost is £135, Employers Liability is £100.
  • For a painter & decorator, the price is £200 and £145.
  • A plumber is the most expensive, at £745 and £170.
  • Prices include a £15 policy fee. (Prices correct at Oct 2010.)

Their tradesman policy is specifically designed to meet the needs of the self employed, small businesses and limited companies with a workforce of 5 or less.

It's only available to those who live and work in England, Scotland or Wales, and quotations are based on you being in business for the last 3 years.

Even if you don't buy from them, they give you a good steer on how the trades compare for insurance prices from a general online insurance broker.

The policy includes a no claim bonus at renewal.

Policies are underwritten by leading insurance firms including Axa, Royal & SunAlliance, Allianz Cornhill and NIG.

You can apply online by filling in a short form. They'll then contact you normally within 24 hours and confirm the premium and cover details.
